DAY BY DAY

SAN JOSÉ

Strong points: Gold Museum – Jade Museum – Central Market – National Theatre – Central Avenue – Inbioparque – Barrio Amon and its colonial architecture

Day 1: Arrival at the airport, where a driver will be waiting to take you to your hotel. A member of the Costa Rica Découverte team will welcome you and give you your itinerary.

Night at Hotel Aranjuez – Superior quadruple room


TORTUGUERO

Strong points: Turtles – Monkeys – Iguanas – Otters – Birds – Kayaking or boating on the canals

Days 2/3 : Transfer to Tortuguero for your first encounter with tropical flora and fauna. Enjoy a boat trip on the canals, a visit to the typical Caribbean village of Tortuguero and a self-guided kayak tour.

Nights at Turtle Beach Hotel – Quadruple Bungalow Room

ARENAL

Days 4/5 : return to Guapiles, where your 4×4 Suzuki Gran Vitara will be handed over to you. You’ll then head north to La Fortuna, where you’ll be able to see the sumptuous Arenal volcano.

Nights at Catarata Ecolodge – Standard quadruple room

Includes:

  • Discover the flora and fauna on a guided excursion (spn/eng) to the Arenal suspension bridges.
  • Relax at the Ecotermales hot springs

RINCON DE LA VIEJA

Strong points: Rincon de la Vieja National Park – Waterfalls – Sabanero and horse – Waterfall – Geothermal station

Days 6/7: you leave for the Rincon de la Vieja volcano.

Nights at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin – Quadruple Superior Room

SAMARA

Strong points: Nicoya – White sandy beaches – Fishing – Dolphin watching – Snorkeling

Days 8/9 : a real change of scenery! Back on the road for a swim in the sun. Departure for the Pacific beaches of Playa Sámara.

Nights at Locanda Hotel – Family apartment quadruple room – Hotel on the beach

  • Dolphin-watching and snorkeling excursion (spn/eng)

MANUEL ANTONIO

Strong points: Parc national Manuel Antonio – Rafting – Cheval – Plage – Quad – Isla Damas en kayak

Day 10: you’re back on the road towards Manuel Antonio. On the way, stop off at Tarcoles for a boat trip to observe the river’s crocodiles and birds.
Then on to Manuel Antonio.

Overnight at Plaza Yara Hotel – Quadruple Suite Room

Includes:

  • Guided boat trip on the Rio Tarcoles (spn/eng). Birdwatching, discovery of the mangrove swamp and the masters of the area: the American crocodile.
  • Entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park

DOMINICAL

Strong points: Baru Reserve – Beach – Marino Ballena National Park – Whale and dolphin watching – Nauyaca waterfall – Boruca indigenous reserve

Days 11/12/13 : you’ll head south to Dominical/Baru. This region marks a real transition in terms of flora and fauna.
The beaches of Hermosa and Dominicalito are among the country’s most beautiful and wildest. No sunbeds or umbrellas, just unspoilt nature.
